2016 | Revelations, Resolutions, Risks, and Rewards

2016 is going to be a big year. I'm graduating college, moving for the last time (for a while), getting married, starting my career, starting to pay off my student debt, working for my dad... the list goes on and on. I'm constantly reminded of this next year approaching, especially in this awkward time between Christmas and Jan 1st, and frankly, I'm overwhelmed. This is of course the time that everyone starts hastily coming up with New Years Resolutions and making promises that they may (or may not) keep.

In one of my many enlightening conversations with my dad, we talked about how this year will look for me regarding my career and leaving school. He has made it very clear that he will support me no matter what, but that now is the time to deliver. I've spent close to $100,000.00 on school in the last six years and now I need to show him (and myself) that it was worth it. I had the incredible fortune of being able to leave the 9-5 workforce this season and really dive into writing music and making my art, as well as learn the important methods of running my own business. Slacking is NOT allowed, nor will it ever be again.

For the most part, it has been successful. I've already secured a couple gigs here and there and have made a lot of progress in my own personal education. I've also dedicated my time to focusing on my health and have been eating better and exercising harder. But the holidays have had their affect on me, I've taken a bit of vacation (deservedly) and slacked on some things I wanted to have done by January 1st. So where does that leave me now?

Back to the to-do lists. Back to the drawing board. Time to schedule out my time effectively and productively. I'll be spending most of my time building this website to it's full potential, making content, and producing my senior recital. I'll also be training with my dad, training in the gym, and training myself to work from home. Any leftover effort I have will be dedicated to the wedding. (10 months!) Thankfully my expert planning skills have made the last bit much easier for the next couple months, and there are sure to be more blogs on this subject! Planning a wedding is a long process!

I'm walking into a risky time. I have the whole world of possibilities ahead of me, the trick will be using my time to it's full potential. If I don't, I have everything to lose. Maybe that's what I need? I always work better under pressure; when the stakes are high and the time is short. This is my resolution: be the best that I can possibly be. Make my life what I want it to be. Seize my opportunities.

So good luck to everyone for this upcoming year. May your days be productive, your goals be met, and your dreams come true. Let's fight for what we deserve, and reach our greatest potential.

Happy New Year!
